I'm 27, recently moved from England to Brussels (Belgium) with my fiancé, and am a home-based freelance editor. I have been crafting for about 6 years, although I always made cards and mini-books when I was a kid. I would probably say my style is freestyle, but I do like to try all kinds of styles - it's fun to experiment with new techniques and new looks. I always have a thousand ideas crashing around in my head, and various 'To Do' lists lying around the place, but never enough time! For as long as I can remember I have been crafting. I sew, home school, cross stitch, embroider, en-caustic wax work, bead, stamp, card make, scrapbook and sketch. My love of stamping and scrap booking began about 12 years ago and viscerally when my first husband was killed. I needed an outlet for myself, the grieving process, and for my son. I was always afraid something was going to happen to me and my son would not know the story behind the pictures. I wanted him to read about his dad, how we met, our first home, and the kind of man he was. It was also a wonderful avenue for my son to explore. He would sit down and write to his dad or make a mini book about the dog while I was scrapping. We would sit and talk, laugh, snack..and just be! I was determined to keep him a kid because the baggage of losing his dad was too big for him to carry. He was 5 1/2 then and he is now 17. He is a handsome, young, Christian man who is obsessed with CREW (rowing). When he is not home he is at the lake rowing or running. I am now remarried (4 years in June) to a wonderful godly man that is a perfect fit for our family. He definitely understands my mini book obsession and both of them were thrilled that I made this DT. I think more than anything they were thrilled that maybe they would be off the hook for having to give their input about the color scheme or which embellishment I should use on the current mini I am working on. I am blessed in so many ways......Life is Good!

Hello!! My name is Melody and I'm a mini album addict. I live in Michigan with my fabulous husband and beautiful daughter. I'm a stay at home mom and love it!! I've been scrapping for about 13 years now. I started making mini's a few years back to send to my grandparents. It was a nice way for them to store them and Granny ended up putting the new one's in her purse to show everyone when she was out!! I really like the tags, pockets and hiding places that can be added to mini's. I also like that I can add more lumpy things to a mini than to my regular layouts. Today I woke up at 8am and hit the craft room. I made a mini envelope books today. They started as Phone books but then they became all purpose mini's. I made two but I am in love with the orange one.

Adding character to your diecuts.

Adding diecuts and stickers to your mini’s give impressive results. However if done incorrectly it can seem as though object are floating on your page. Bumping up a diecut or sticker can be easily achieved with a little creativity and imagination. Here is one I did using a diecut train from my Cricut.

The first thing I did was cut multiple layers and stacked them together.
I cut circles for the wheels and layered those as well.
Next I cut strips of paper and used Pearl dot stickers for the accent pieces .
I inked the edges of my train and stamped the wheels with a background stamp using Stazon Glue pad. I then sprinkled burgundy glitter on the wheels. I also glittered the front and top of the train.
I added two buttons to the centers of the wheels
Finally I went digging in my sticker stash and found a cute bear to use as the conductor. Later I will probably add a hat to my bear and a bell to my train, but I just wanted to show how easy it is to embellish a simple diecut.

Happy Sunday Everyone

I wanted to share a mini that I worked on over the weekend. I will just call it an Art Mini Book. No pictures just pages created as if you would make an ATC. This was super fun to make because it is more my style than a traditional mini book. These are just a few pages because once again my camera is acting wonky. There are actually about 10 pages in all. I managed to snap these before my camera shut off on me.

Mini Book Anonymous Design Team Call

Do you love mini books? Then why not come join us! Mini Books Anonymous is currently seeking 6 creative individuals to join our blog team. Members will be responsible for creating one mini book every other month and submitting photos to share on our blog. In addition to the design team responsibilities, Mini Book Anonymous will also host occasional swaps among members and host charity mini album giveaways. All Styles will be considered. International applicants welcome.
Applicants on other teams are also welcome to apply.

The requirements are as follows:
Members must commit to a six month term.
Members are expected to complete one mini book every other month and send your pictures to us for posting.
Members are encouraged to post You Tube videos of your latest and greatest Mini Books Anonymous creations.
Members should Actively promote Mini Books Anonymous in whatever way you can.
Join the Mini Books Anonymous blog and post.

To apply send an email to Rashida at Spaessen@aol.com with the “ Design Team” In the title.
Please also include:
*Your name, location , phone number and email that you use regularly
*A brief statement about your crafting style and interests
*How long you have been scrapbooking or making mini‘s.

Romantic Swap Mini Album

This mini album was made for a Romantic Swap on Scrapbook.com. I used the Que Sera Sera papers by K & Company to make this book. I also used lot’s of bling and flowers. It came out brighter than I hoped for but I really love it. So much that I don’t want to give it away. Check it out.

I made this mini book for Crafty Lefty over at scrapbook.com as a part of a swap. This book really took me out of my comfort zone because I am not a big fan of purple (but she is). I kept it simple so that she could personalize it to her liking. I was only able to snap a few pictures here because my camera decided to act up yet again. Enjoy. - RASHIDA

CHA 2010....daydreaming and wishing

Still making wishlists from CHA. As more and more things are making their way to the stores, I am finding more and more to wish for. There were two great products released this year that could be a big help to mini album makers. I know I am dreaming of owning them. The Cinch by WER Memory Keeps. They gave us the Cropadile, now they are helping us bind books. I own a Bind It All, and I confess to never using it. Of course, I still want a Cinch. LOL I like how it punches holes on a longer area and has a few built in features that makes attaching the wires easier. Watch the demo from CHA below.

I also liked the Zutter Kutter, by the makers of the Bind It All. It cuts (and scores) chipboard, matboard, foamboard....sigh....I want one ever so. Video is below.

I am not the only one with a dream. Tim Holtz has one too! Gotta love his prototype sizzix die cutter designed like old luggage. I am hoping the finished product will be a little more polished. But it is a very cool concept, and so different from the girly pink and pastel options that dominate the industry. Can't wait until his new line for Sizzix hits the stores.

Vintaj...they deserve a post all their own. Oh the possibilities. They make all sorts of charms, findings, and metal blanks. I found this cool demo from CHA where they used their products in a Cuttlebug. Check it out...and also their site.

Always & Forever Mini

Here is my mini for this month. It was actually inspired by my fiancee's birthday which happens to fall two days before Valentines day ! I used a variety of coordinating papers from my scrap bin. I also added layered hearts from the K&Company Smitten Collection and added a chain with charms from my found objects bin.

Captured Memories Mini

I finally finished! It took two weeks, but now I am finally done. This book is for my sister's godmother, I hope she likes it. I always wonder if non scrappers get how to use mini books, like maybe all the nooks and crannies will be too much for her. My sister thinks I should include a step by step instruction guide with it.

I used the My Minds Eye Dreamy 2 papers exclusively for this book. And for the Cricut Message Board Mini Album Challenge thread I incorporated hearts into the design. Four to be exact, two heart brads, one mini punched heart, and a heart eyelet.

And since we create more books than we can possibly use... (for instance, Rashida keeps making girly mini books, yet she has two boys) ...we will be giving away books as well as other things on this blog. Crafting is so much more fun when you can share it.
